Η Σαντορίνη είναι ένα από τα διασημότερα τουριστικά θέρετρα της Ελλάδας. Με χιλιάδες  τουρίστες από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό να την επισκέπτονται κάθε χρόνο, η Σαντορίνη δεν έχει τίποτα να ζηλέψει από άλλα παγκόσμια αξιοθέατα. Γνωστή για τα ηφαίστειά της, έχει τραβήξει πλήθος τουριστών αλλά και ερευνητών, που τελικά μένουν εκστασιασμένοι από την ομορφιά της. Αγαπημένος προορισμός διάσημων και μη, παραμένει ένα στολίδι του Αιγαίου μας. 

Ανακάλυψα και εγώ την ομορφιά της πριν μερικά χρόνια και πραγματικά με μάγεψε. Τελικά είναι αλήθεια αυτό που λένε, πως φτάνει μόνο μια φορά να την επισκεφτείς για να σε μαγέψει  και να σε κάνει να επιστρέφεις κάθε χρόνο. Δεν ξέρω αν είναι η μαγευτική θέα της Καλντέρας ή η σχεδόν συνεχής ηλιοφάνεια που έχει, αλλά σε αυτό το μέρος αναβλύζει από παντού μια ομορφιά!

Η αφορμή για να την επισκεφτώ ήρθε πριν κάποια χρόνια που ήμουν καλεσμένος στον γάμο ενός φίλου. Αφού φτάσαμε λοιπόν στο νησί , πήγαμε να δούμε το ξενοδοχείο που μας είχε κλείσει  ο φίλος μου και πάθαμε το πρώτο σοκ. Το ξενοδοχείο κρεμόταν στην κυριολεξία στην ράχη του βουνού και μπροστά μας απλώνονταν μεγαλοπρεπής η Καλντέρα. Νομίζω πως πρέπει να έμεινα πάνω από 10 λεπτά αμίλητος να χαζεύω το θέαμα.

Όταν βγήκαμε για την πρώτη αναγνωριστική βόλτα στο νησί, ανακάλυψα πως δεν είναι μόνο το ηφαίστειο που κάνει το μέρος φανταστικό αλλά και πολλά άλλα. Οι άνθρωποι ήταν τόσο φιλικοί και φιλόξενοι που σε έκαναν να πιστεύεις από την πρώτη στιγμή ότι είσαστε χρόνια φιλαράκια και πήγατε όλοι μαζί διακοπές στο νησί. Τα φαγητά, τα γλυκά και τα κρασιά τους ήταν μοναδικά και η υπόσχεση για καλοκαιρινή δίαιτα πήγε περίπατο.  

Ξεχωριστά από το γεγονός του γάμου, η επίσκεψη στην Σαντορίνη μου έμεινε αξέχαστη και με στιγμάτισε περισσότερο από όλα τα ταξίδια που έχω κάνει. Το τοπίο και οι εικόνες που θα δεις εκεί δεν υπάρχουν πουθενά αλλού στον κόσμο. Μπορώ να δηλώσω πλέον με σιγουριά πως είναι ένα μέρος που θα μπορούσα να περάσω το υπόλοιπο της ζωής μου, σκαρφαλωμένος και εγώ στα βράχια περιμένοντας το ηλιοβασίλεμα…
